Happy Meals are getting again in August, but don’t be surprised if imposes some restrictions.
Last year, as part of the celebrations for the Pokémon franchise’s 25th anniversary, McDonald’s landed a special promotion to sell .
It was more of an American thing, but it did make its way here to the UK for a limited time. If you missed out, you’ll be pleased to know that those Pokémon Happy Meals are on their way back in just a couple months.
There’s been no official announcement by either McDonald’s or The Pokémon Company, but the word is that the promotion will begin on August 3, immediately replacing the Paddington Bear deal that’s running at the moment.
There’s nothing yet on what sort of goody they’ll come with or how long the promotion will last.
The obvious assumption is that they’ll include special one-of-a-kind trading cards, since that’s what was distributed in the last Pokémon themed Happy Meals.
This news comes from a picture of promotional material, sent anonymously to . It only depicts mascot Pikachu alongside the phrase ‘Coming soon to Happy Meal.’
It might be too early to expect the toys or cards to be themed around Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. While those are the next mainline games, they’re not out until November and details on them are being tightly kept under wraps.
Don’t be surprised if McDonald’s once again enforces restrictions and limits how many Happy Meals you can buy.
This is because, during the last promotion, some people were for the sole purpose of gathering as many of the cards as possible and selling them for extortionate prices online.
This practice doesn’t appear to have stopped as a cursory Google search reveals that the Paddington Happy Meal toys are . Although the prices for those are nowhere near as high, not even breaking £10.
