The subcontractor was transported to Shore Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Gillian’s Wonderland Pier President Jay Gillian, who is also the mayor of Ocean City, confirmed Sanger’s death.

‘We are saddened to report that an employee of a subcontractor working on a lift at Gillian’s Wonderland Pier suffered a fatal injury Monday morning,’ Gillian stated.

‘Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.’

Gillian said he would provide more information on the accident as it becomes available, and said he is cooperating with an investigation by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Gillian has served as Ocean City’s mayor since 2010 and was up for reelection on May 10. However, a Facebook page for his campaign stated that Gillian is ‘suspending all campaign activity effective immediately’ in light of the fatal accident.
