President was discussing at the lighthearted-in-nature White House Egg Roll when an Easter Bunny cut in, leaving him looking confused.
Biden was filmed talking to reporters and guests about Afghanistan and Pakistan on Monday morning when a person disguised in a big bunny suit stepped in between them. In a clip recorded by journalist , the Easter Bunny waved its paws as some in the group could be heard laughing, while Biden appeared surprised and walked away.
In another video captured from further away, the person in the bunny costume could be seen breaking up the exchange and then guiding Biden to another place.
Republican operatives quickly hopped on the opportunity to mock the president.
‘How bad does the White House staff have to think Biden is to calculate that sending in the EASTER BUNNY to interrupt a gaggle is better optics than whatever he was about to say on Afghanistan?’ Matt Whitlock, a former aide to ex-Senator Orrin Hatch.

Meanwhile, Megahn McCain, daughter of the late Republican Senator John McCain, slammed Biden’s team for allowing the bunny moment to unfold.
‘The absolute distrust and disrespect our Presidents staff has for him and his capabilities to lead and speak in public is disgraceful. Shame on his team, shame on them,’ she . ‘Why are they treating him like this? Because all this does is alarm the American public watching this.’
In his remarks on the South Lawn, Biden said he and the first lady were excited to have the Easter Egg Roll after last year’s was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
‘The joy, the laughter, and the occasional – at least with my young grandson, who’s only two – the occasional, “There’s the Easter Bunny,”‘ Biden said, referring to Beau and laughing. ‘A little startled sometimes.’
Biden closed his remarks by saying that the ‘joy and the laughter’ of the Egg Roll ‘is something that has been a wonderful tradition here at the White House for a long, long time’.
‘To all of you, have fun today and welcome to the White House,’ Biden said. ‘Welcome to your house. Welcome to the South Lawn.’
