A nationwide search is underway for the suspect in the murder of a professional cyclist who once dated her boyfriend.
Kaitlin Armstrong, 35, is accused of shooting dead competitive gravel and mountain biker Anna Moriah Wilson, 25.
She suffered multiple gunshot wounds when she was attacked on May 11 in Austin, Texas, where Wilson had traveled for a race.
Police revealed that both women had romantic relationships with professional cyclist Colin Strickland.
Armstrong had previously warned Wilson to stay away from him but they went for dinner and Strickland dropped her off at the house where her body was later found.
Surveillance footage shows the car suspected to be Armstrong’s arrived at the home a minute later. When asked by authorities, Armstrong provided no explanation.
According to the affidavit, Strickland told police he was in a relationship with Armstrong for three years, but had dated Wilson when they were on a break in their relationship.
Days before the death, Armstrong had been in police custody on an unrelated warrant.
However, she was allowed to go free because the warrant was deemed invalid.
Wilson’s family said in a statement that ‘at the time of her death, she was not in a romantic relationship with anyone.’
Strickland is not considered a suspect because security footage and other evidence shows he was elsewhere at the time of Wilson’s death. The US Marshals Service is asking anyone with information about Armstrong’s location to contact them.
