Daniel Amokachi has emphatically stated that hiring a foreign coach for the Super Eagles of Nigeria will not solve all the problems in the national team. Following the disengagement of Augustine Eguavoen as the Super Eagles gaffer, the Nigerian Football Federation are almost done to hire a foreign coach to be in charge of the team.
The Nigerian football chiefs have already named Kano Pillars’ boss Salisu Yusuf and Enyimba handler Finidi George as assistants coaches in the Super Eagles.
Why was Augustine Eguavoen sacked by the NFF? The Nigerian Football Federation decided to throw Eguavoen and his crew out of the Super Eagles following their failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
According to the report on GOAL, Daniel Amokachi explained that there is no solid developmental programme for young Nigerian footballers in which the national teams are suffering the consequences.
Daniel Amokachi’s statement
“I said something about our over-reliance on Nigerian footballers in the diaspora which was misreported in the media.
“My point is that when you consistently rely on players developed and trained by other nations to play for you, then you have seriously failed in your important role of building the future stars.”
