Emmanuel Dennis ended his goal drought but it was not enough as relegation threatened Watford lost 2-1 to Brentford at Vicarage Road in Saturday’s Premier League game.

Going into Saturday’s game, Dennis last goal was on February 19 when his strike earned Watford a 1-0 win at Aston Villa.

His Nigerian teammate Oghenekaro Etebo was benched for the game which saw Watford suffer their third straight defeat.

The goal was Dennis’ 10th for Watford in his debut season in the English topflight.

The former Club Brugge forward scored in the 55th minute to draw Watford level.

But a 95th minute penalty converted by Pontus Jansson sealed the win for Brentford.

The defeat leaves Watford in 19th place on 22 points, six points from safety, while Brentford are now in 11th on 39 points in the league table.

At Old Trafford a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick sealed a hard fought 3-2 for Manchester United against Norwich City.

It was Ronaldo’s 60th career hat trick, the most of any active player and five more than Lionel Messi.

United are now in fifth place on 54 points and are only three points away from fourth spot.

Ronaldo opened scoring on seven minutes as he slotted home Anthony Elanga’s cross, before doubling United’s lead with a header off a corner on 32 minutes.

Kieran Dowell pulled a goal back for Norwich one minute into added time as he headed in Teemu Pukki unmarked.

In the 52nd minute Pukki then made it 2-2 after he ran on to a pass before slotting past David De Gea.

But in the 76th minute Ronaldo completed his hat-trick with a brilliant free kick.

In other results Arsenal’s poor run continues after they lost 1-0 at Southampton while Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-0 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion.
