Gary Neville has predicted that Mikel Arteta will deliver more trophies at Arsenal but does feel they will ‘probably come up a little short’ this term.

Having guided Arsenal to glory in 2020, Arsenal manager Arteta has transformed the north club into genuine title challengers.

The Gunners, who have just thee top-flight games left this season, are one point behind leaders and could still lift the 2022-23 trophy.

Meanwhile, next term Arsenal will end their seven-year wait for Champions League football and Lineker feels more silverware is on the way for Arteta’s side.

Speaking after , Lineker said: ‘Arsenal will probably come up a little short [this season].

‘But they’ve made serious progress in the last couple of years.

‘Arteta has done a brilliant job and his team will be winning trophies in the not-too-distant future.’

Ex-Arsenal defender William Gallas says he feels ‘very sad’ for his old club despite the victory over Newcastle as he cannot see City slipping up in the title race.

‘Arsenal have to believe they can still win the title, but it won’t be easy because we know Man City are there and will probably keep that advantage until the end,’ Gallas told Sky Sports.

‘I feel very sad for Arsenal. They were on top, they had the advantage and unfortunately now they are second and they have to wait and see if Man City drop any points.’
