says the five changes he has made to his Liverpool starting XI on Wednesday night is simply about freshening his team up amid a busy schedule.
The Reds beat 1-0 on Sunday in a memorable contest and face on Wednesday before travelling to take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Klopp has shuffled his pack to take on the Hammers, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, , Kostas Tsimikas and Fabio Carvalho all coming into the side.
Dropping out are Andy Robertson, Harvey Elliott, James Milner, Fabinho and the injured Diogo Jota, with Klopp saying it is just down to the hectic run of fixtures.
‘Yeah. Definitely [about freshening things up],’ Klopp told Prime. ‘We don’t have the Nottingham game in our mind, but we cannot ignore it and we play again in a couple of days.
‘That’s why we had to make changes and we can do these changes.’
Klopp wrote in his programme notes: ‘It is only three days since we were last at Anfield and while everyone knows my feelings about fixture congestion, especially in this season which is pretty unique I would say, I think I would have to question my own state of mind if I was not excited about another game at this stadium so soon after the last one.’
It is a big day for West Ham midfielder Flynn Downes, who makes his first Premier League start on Wednesday night after arriving from Swansea over the summer.
He has made two appearances off the bench for the Hammers in the top flight and is being thrown into the starting XI for the first time at Anfield.
