The 25-year-old is one of the most versatile players in the Arsenal squad, being able to play on the left of defence, left wing, central midfield and even behind the striker.
However, it is not this notable versatility which Arteta picks out as his greatest asset, but the mentality which he has shown while winning multiple trophies at City.
‘His mentality is the main thing,’ said Arteta of the Ukrainian. ‘He’s a winner, winning is the only thing and he wants to win in the right way.
He’s a professional, a really demanding boy ‘I know him so well and after that He gives us qualities we didn’t have in the squad.
‘To give us different options to play within the role in different space. I’m really happy to have him here.’
The Gunners continued their fantastic pre-season on Saturday by thrashing Sevilla 6-0 at the Emirates, with Zinchenko starting at left wing-back.
Gabriel Jesus stole the show with a hat-trick, with Bukayo Saka scoring twice and Eddie Nketiah rounding off the scoring.
Jesus has been in great form in friendlies so far having also joined from Manchester City this summer and Arteta is excited to have the Brazilian as an option across his front line.
‘His versatility is well known,’ said the Arsenal boss. ‘He can play centrally, left, right. He can play in a two like he did with Eddie in pre season. He gives us a lot of flexibility.’
