Brentford manager, Thomas Frank has issued a statement to reveal that Frank Onyeka could be out of competitive football for much longer than anticipated because of an ankle injury.
Onyeka will miss Brentford’s Premier League battle against Southampton at the Brentford Community Stadium today [ Saturday] as he recovers from the injury he suffered while on international on duty for Nigeria.
The injury has made the midfielder miss Brentford’s last six Premier League games against Leicester City, Chelsea, West Ham United, Watford, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
Brentford manager, Frank while giving an update on the Bees’ squad that will face Southampton revealed at his pre-match presser: “Frank Onyeka is unlikely to play again this season.”
The last league match that Onyeka played came almost two months ago and that was on March 12 for Brentford versus Burnley, a game that he played only one minute in during a 2-0 win.
The 24-year-old has made 20 league appearances for the Bees and has so far struck the back of the net on only one occasion while also getting to pick up as many as four yellow cards.
The midfielder joined Brentford from Danish Superliga outfit FC Midtylland on July 20 2021 for an undisclosed fee.
