Six managers who could replace Graham Potter as Chelsea boss

are embarking on their latest search for a new manager following the sacking of on Sunday night.

The 47 year-old was after a which saw the team win just 12 of Potter’s 31 games in charge in all competitions.

Potter’s departure means that co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are on the hunt for their third permanent manager of the season after earlier in the campaign.

Here is a look through the runners and riders linked with the managerial vacancy at Stamford Bridge.

Julian Nagelsmann

Nagelsmann has been installed as the overwhelming early favourite by the bookmakers, with the currently without a club having been .

The 35 year-old is to The Blues but Chelsea could have a fight on their hands to persuade him to come now, with Nagelsmann said to prefer to wait until the summer before getting back into work.

Nagelsmann, who is known for his energetic and progressive style of play, left Bayern despite sitting only one point behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and having guided the German giants to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino

The Argentine has been unattached since being sacked by PSG last summer and his availability, coupled with his experience of English football, is likely to be hugely attractive to the Chelsea hierarchy.

Pochettino spent five years at Tottenham, narrowly missing out on the Premier League title to Chelsea in 2017 as well as reaching the club’s first ever Champions League final two years later.

Chelsea are , who was also linked with the job when Tuchel was sacked in September, but the former Spurs boss is in linking up with the club.

Zinedine Zidane

The French icon has once again been linked with a move to west London, and should a move materialise, it would be the first time that Zidane has worked in the English game.

Zizou won three consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid between 2016 and 2018, and after a brief spell away from the club he returned to win the La Liga title in 2019/20.

The 50 year-old has been without a club since leaving for a second time in 2021, with Zidane saying as recently as last year that his lack of fluency in English has made him cautious about accepting a job in the Premier League.

Oliver Glasner

Chelsea have under consideration for what would be viewed as a left field appointment.

Glasner, who has also been , is currently in charge of German side Eintracht Frankfurt with whom he won the Europa League last year.

Glasner, 48, is known for his possession-based style of play and is currently sat in sixth position in the Bundesliga table with Eintracht.

Luis Enrique

Enrique has been out of a job since quitting as Spain’s manager following their World Cup embarrassment at the hands of Morocco in the Round of 16.

The former Spanish midfielder was in charge of Barcelona between 2014 and 2017 where he won two La Liga titles and one Champions League.

Enrique, who has also had short spells as a manager at Roma and Celta Vigo, was and the club have reportedly placed him on the shortlist of managers they wish to speak to.

Ruben Amorim

The Portuguese is a rising star of the game having guided Sporting to the Primeira Liga title in 2020/21.

Amorim, 38, took four points off Spurs in this season’s Champions League, with whom the manager was linked with at various points across Conte’s tenure.

Chelsea may be wary about appointing Amorim, however, given his relative inexperience at the top of the game and in light of Potter’s struggles at the club.
