Former defender Frank Leboeuf has urged Blues owner Todd Boehly to make a stunning £100m transfer offer in January.
Boehly spent more than £250m in his first transfer window in charge of Chelsea, bringing the likes of Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly to Stamford Bridge.
There’s no reason to suggest Chelsea will stop spending heavily in January or next summer and Leboeuf believes his former club should make an audacious swoop for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.
winner Mbappe has scored 187 goals in 233 games for PSG and signed a new three-year deal with the French giants in May.
But , who he joined from Monaco in 2018.
Mbappe is said to favour a move to Real Madrid but Leboeuf doubts that move will happen and says Chelsea should look to pounce in January.
‘When I heard Kylian Mbappe saying he doesn’t see his future at PSG, I thought there’s nothing stopping Chelsea from going all out to try and bring him to Stamford Bridge,’ Leboeuf told .
‘If he wants to leave PSG, Todd Boehly could slap £100m on the table and say “take it or leave it” because nobody else realistically is going to buy him.
‘People say Real Madrid but they’ve got Benzema up top and Vinicious Jr on the left and Rodrygo on the right. They’re on fire so I can’t see him going there right now.’
While reports claim Mbappe feels he made a ‘mistake’ by committing his future to PSG, the player himself has dismissed the rumours.
‘I am very happy,’ Mbappe told reporters earlier in the month. ‘I have never asked to leave in January.
‘I didn’t understand why the story came out on the day of a game. I was as shocked as everyone. People can think I was involved but I wasn’t at all.’
Paris Saint-Germain are five points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table and sit top of Champions League Group H with one game to play.
Graham Potter’s Chelsea, meanwhile, are fifth in the Premier League and top of Champions League Group E following a 2-1 win over Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday night.
