Benin Republic assistant coach Luc Rene Mensah, has predicted that his side can beat the Flying Eagles of Nigeria in the final of the 2022 WAFU Zone B final.
Both teams will battle for who will emerge champions of this year’s edition in Niger Republic.
The Flying Eagles topped Group B ahead of former champions Black Satellites of Ghana and Burkina Faso.
In the semi-final, the Ladan Bosso-led side edged Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 after extra-time.
On their part, Benin Republic also finished winners in Group A that had Cote d’Ivoire, Togo and hosts Niger Republic.
And speaking ahead of today’s final on Brila FM Mensah stated that they will do everything possible to emerge winners, especially after achieving the target of qualification to the 2023 AFCON in Egypt.
“To need this final we have to perform but it is not important for us because our first target was to get out of the group and we did well after topping the group.
“Then our second target was to get the ticket for the U-20 AFCON in Egypt and for the third target, if it is possible for us to win the cup why not?
“We know Nigeria is a big country, big team but we will try and I believe Benin Republic can win 2-1.”
The Flying Eagles and Benin Republic will represent the WAFU Zone B at next year’s U-20 AFCON.
Also, the tournament in Egypt will serve as qualifiers for the U-20 FIFA World Cup in Indonesia.
