Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli insists the club will not attempt to sign from in January.
Ronaldo has returned the squad after being exiled for last Saturday’s Premier League clash with but his future at Old Trafford remains bleak.
Reports suggest United will be willing to let the 37-year-old leave on a free transfer should another club be willing to take him on. A host of European sides rejected the chance to sign him in the summer, a stance which has not changed for many of the clubs Ronaldo is open to joining.
A report from The Sun this week named Napoli as one of the few clubs interested in a deal in January.
But with the Serie A giants in stunning form – top of Serie A and playing some of the best football in Europe in their thrilling Champions League campaign – the club are wary of making changes.
Speaking to DAZN, Giuntoli said: ‘Ronaldo in January? We won’t sign any player in January. We don’t need to change anything in this team. We’re doing great and we’re not planning any signing, as of today.
‘I might be repetitive, but we really are not thinking about the transfer market right now. And even if I did have to talk about it, I would say we need nothing, because there are no problems in the squad that need to be repaired.
‘Things are going so well that we would not make a single move.’
Napoli have won all five of their Champions League games and are undefeated in their league campaign under Luciano Spalletti this term.
The club already have a number of exciting options in attack with summer signings Giacomo Raspadori and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia hitting the ground running with Victor Osimhen also in good form.
They also have a potent option off the bench in Giovanni Simeone who has six goals this season despite starting just two games.
The quartet has scored 23 goals between them this season with Ronaldo hitting the back of the net just twice – one of those a penalty against FC Sheriff.
United are back in action against the Moldovan side tonight, with Ronaldo in contention to start having been recalled.
